Macmillan Tea Party

Our Macmillan Tea Party this afternoon raised a whopping £129.25. Thank you so much to family and friends who came along to support us, staff who turned out on their days off, staff on shift who helped out and, of course, everyone who baked. As you can see we had a luscious spread of goodies and the residents enjoyed the party.

Well done to Ann, who won the Bake Off with her delicious Coconut cake, and Jennifer who beat me fair and square in our Chcolate Brownie head to head (she is never going to let me forget it!).

Feeling peck-ish

Visitors will have noticed a new face around the home this month in the form of a seagull which we believe is keeping an eye out for custard cremes which seem to be its favourite snack.

It seems fairly harmless unless you happen to have something edible in your hand and has been entertaining residents and families with its antics outside the main lounge.

Stop the press!!!

Following a recent meeting held in a secret location at Thistleknowe care home in the main lounge, Service users decided they would like Fish and chips from the local chip shop delivered to the home on Fridays. It is believed that family and friends will also be allowed to order fish and chips and eat them at the same time with their loved ones whilst enjoying a hot cup of tea or coffee and only have to pay £7 per head. Families are urged to call the home if they are feeling hungry and wish to attend.

Care Surgery

New this year is our care surgery with Beth Kelly.

Beth will be staying late on the second Monday of each month to give those who find it difficult to come in during the week a chance to drop in and discuss any care related issues. It is also a chance to sample some of Jennifer's delicious home baking. Scones with tea and coffee will be available in the dining room.

If you cant get to this please feel free to give Beth a call through the week.

Karaoke Fun

Thistleknowe would like to thank Derek and Daria and Huey Broon and the Bullets for raising funds and buying the home a fantastic new Karaoke machine just in time for the Christmas party!

Thanks again on behalf of all the residents and staff at the home.
